PK Grosses 400 Crores; Emerges Bollywood’s 3rd Highest Worldwide Earner

Aamir Khan’s PK is giving a smashing performance. The film has collected 214 crores at the domestic box office in nine days itself. In the international circuits too, PK is going strong. The film has now grossed over 400 crores worldwide (including 93 crores from Overseas) which is huge.
Interestingly, PK has achieved a huge feat of beating the worldwide collections of 3 Idiots which stood with a collection of 395 crores. The pace with which PK has achieved this huge collection is unbelievable.
PK has now become the third highest worldwide grosser after Dhoom 3 and Chennai Express. The film is the highest worldwide grosser of the year.

PK Collects Over 200 Crore In 9 Days; Becomes 5th Highest Grosser Of All Time

PK has now entered the 200 crore club after completing its 9 successful days at the Domestic Box Office. The film collected 17 crores approx on its 2nd Saturday and now stands with a total collection of approximately 214 crores nett at the domestic box office.
The film has held up well over the second weekend too. The Aamir Khan film has been performing extremely well since its opening. This is Aamir’s third film to enter the 200 crore club. With excellent responses in the urban circuit, the film is going strong thanks to the Christmas vacations.
PK has now beaten Ek Tha Tiger, 3 Idiots, Happy New Year‘s Lifetime collections and thus becomes 5th Highest Grosser of All Time. Looking at the current pace, this Rajkumar Hirani directorial will easily beat Chennai Express and Kick‘s lifetime business soon.

Farhan Akhtar Explains Why The ‘No Smoking’ Disclaimers In Films Is Disturbing

Farhan Akhtar strongly feels against running ‘No Smoking’ disclaimers in the midst of a film.
He is keen to reach out to the concerned authorities about the No smoking disclaimers in films. The ace actor truly feels it takes away from the viewing experience and is more of a distraction than effective messaging.
Says Farhan, “Firstly, we all are in agreement that smoking is injurious to health but ask yourself, is running a disclaimer as a sub-title during a scene the solution to the problem? The answer is no.”
Farhan shares, “The only thing it successfully manages to do is take the viewer out of his or her film viewing experience. It is like putting the cinema hall lights on during a scene and expecting not to disturb the audience’s attention or cause any lapse in concentration to the story. Is that possible? The answer again is No.”
Farhan has been talking to his team and fellow filmmakers about the issue. He wants to take a concrete step and ensure a solution is worked out.
He further adds, “The film industry had willingly accepted and proudly supported the Anti-Smoking Public Awareness film by attaching it to the print and digital file, to be run before the start of the feature itself. But to have disclaimers in the film itself is stepping on the film makers toes and demanding a compromise of the creator’s integrity.”
Farhan feels running a disclaimer is more of a creative hindrance and takes away from the essence of the scene
He concludes by saying, “We have a rating system that decides viewer age limits for films and I’m sure that smoking can be dealt with through the certification system.”

“PK Has Surpassed Expectations. But Will It Make 300 Crore?” – Trade Experts

The trade hints at 300 Crore for PK, as the movie shows up impressive figures each passing day. Taking the second highest spot as the non-holiday opener following Aamir Khan’s Dhoom 3 and holding the Highest 1st Week Collections record, PK despite having shelved in few single screens, is going strong and has picked up excellently well with positive word of mouth and reviews by the critics.
N.R Pachisia (Producer and Distributor, Mumbai):
The business of PK is on the expected line. Finally the numbers have come in and the movie is already established. Commenting on has the business being affected by not having screened in few single screens, then I would say that it could have added the numbers, but it has not affected the collections largely. PK is a multiplex film, and I don’t know why people don’t agree, but the movie infact has picked up very well with the word of mouth and even the media has given thumbs up. And yesterday being a big holiday, it again made big numbers, and looking at the response it is getting at the Box- Office the movie is seen heading towards 200 Cr with a fast pace. Will the movie make 300 Cr, well, that can only be decided after next week, but, yes, the film is heading towards big numbers.
Tarun Tandon (M.D, Indra Films, Nizam and Andhra):
Yes, I definitely think the numbers are as per expectations and we are looking at the movie which is going to do 300 Cr. So, I think its performance is at par at what the expectations were and I think it might succeed the expectations also as we still have 1st January too as a Holiday. So with the number of holidays the movie is going to break all records. The opening day wasn’t that big, but, then with the reviews and word of mouth, the movie has picked up over the weekend and Sunday was fabulous. We cannot say that the movie has disappointed us in any way. Looking at my territory there is no drop in the Nexus. The Nexus are rock steady. PK is a movie which has the potential to go beyond 300 crore lifetime collections. There is no drop, the way normal movies drop, good movies with good reviews even have a drop, but we are not seeing that kind of drop in PK.
Akshaye Rathi (Exhibitor, Mumbai):
The conditions obviously are as expected or rather more awfully expected. The movie has sustained fabulously through the week. Yesterday being Christmas, the collections were huge and the movie is going to sustain fabulously in the winter vacation. And the way the film has sustained, 99.9% we are looking at PK as the biggest grosser ever. The movie’s collections were hardly affected by not getting released in few single screens, it was almost negligible.
So, while the trade experts predict that PK will make a 300 Crore business easily, what do you think?

PK Scores Heavily On Christmas; Beats Dhoom 3′s Record | 1st Week Box Office Collections

PK has hit the roof. If the weekend saw wonderful momentum building for the film, weekdays showed the level of acceptance that the Aamir Khan starrer had fetched. The film continued to score heavily and with Christmas holiday on Thursday, the Rajkumar Hirani affair saw an escalation all over again. As a result, the film managed to gather astonishing footfalls with collections of 182.39 crores (nett) in its 1st Week itself.
The success has turned out to be even better for all involved, and there are reasons aplenty. First and foremost, Aamir has managed to break his own record of Dhoom 3 that was created last year for the highest collections ever gained in the first week run.
Secondly, Rajkumar Hirani has almost managed to collect the entire lifetime collections of 3 Idiots (202 crore). Thirdly, producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s confidence in the product and the promises that he made to the distributors have proven true as well. Last but not the least, Anushka Sharma is back in business with a biggie, and how.
With the kind of response that PK is gaining, it is now a given that this social-satirical affair would result as the biggest success of 2014, hence surpassing Salman Khan’s Kick [233 crore] and Shah Rukh Khan’s Happy New Year [203 crore]. Meanwhile, it would also go past the Chennai Express [227 crore].
The next big target though is Dhoom 3 which had managed 284 crore. There are many more overs (read open days) ahead to score these runs (collections) and it is now a matter of whether the film manages to seize this opportunity and play consistently or run out of breath after some initial quick hitting!

Will We Never See ‘Saif-Parineeti Jodi’ On Silver Screen?

Actress Parineeti Chopra has expressed her desire to work with Saif Ali Khan in various platforms however, the films announced with both of them together got shelved for reasons best known to them.
Earlier, there were reports that Abbas Mustan was supposed to direct Saif Ali Khan and Parineeti Chopra in a film however that film got shelved. Abbas Mustan’s desi adaptation of Alexandre Dumas’s adventure novel ‘The Count of Monte Cristo’ didn’t go on floors due to scripting issues.
Post that Saif’s business partner Dinesh Vijan was planning to turn director with Saif and Parineeti in lead which was again put on hold for reasons best known to them.
However a source revealed, “Dinesh was keen to work with Saif and Parineeti in his debut directorial venture however, the film has been put on hold as few changes in the script needs to be done. But, still there is no clarity when the film will go on floors.”

PK All Set To Evict SRK’s KANK & Enter Top 10 Highest Overseas Grossers

PK has had a smashing start at the domestic box office. The film in merely six days has made a collection of 154.84 crores in India, which is commendable. Since it is a Aamir Khan film, naturally there were high expectations from it and also it was one of the most-awaited films of the year. Releasing it in the opportune time of Christmas, the film will certainly fare well considering it is a vacation time
In the overseas too, the film has started with a bang. It has now collected 10.5 million US Dollars so far. The film will soon be entering the Top 10 Highest Grossers In Overseas. PK’s Overseas collections are slightly behind Shah Rukh Khan’s Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna and will soon evict the movie from the list.
PK will mark Aamir’s third film to make it to the Highest Overseas Grossers’ list after Dhoom 3 and 3 Idiots which hold the Top positions.

PK Becomes 4th Highest Grosser Of 2014; Beats Singham Returns

Aamir Khan’s most anticipated film of the year PK has had a smashing start and the film within its first six days itself has made a collection of 154.84 crores at the domestic box office. This is Aamir’s fourth film into the 100 crore club and looking at the way it is performing, soon the film may be crossing 200 crores mark too.
The film has now beaten the lifetime collections of Ajay Devgn starrer Singham Returns which made a lifetime collection of 141 crores at the domestic box office. PK has stayed extremely strong in the weekdays and with the Christmas holiday too on Thursday, the film will be cashing in on it.

PK Crosses The 150 Cr Mark In 6 Days | 1st Wednesday Box Office Collections

PK remained rock steady over its sixth day as well. The film collected 19.56 crores on its first Wednesday i.e. Day 6 and now stands with a total collection of whopping 154.84 crores at the domestic box office.

The film is performing extremely strong in multiplexes and with a Christmas holiday on Thursday i.e. today, the advance bookings have shown a good response and the film will surely get a good peak. The Rajkumar Hirani film has received a lot of appreciation from critics as well as audiences.
Starring Aamir Khan in the lead, PK has been consistent in the mass circuits too. The urban centers such as Mumbai, Pune and Bangalore are excellent. Looking at its current pace, PK may have a brilliant first week with collections estimated around 188-190 crores, which will be the Highest 1st Week Collections of All Time.

Hrithik Roshan Does ‘Aaja Aaja Main Hoon Pyar Tera’ In His Vanity Van

In a never-done-before video, Bollywood’s dancing star Hrithik Roshan takes his fans by surprise. A brand new video featuring the popular actor doing what he does best but with a twist has been released for his fans to enjoy. In the video, Hrithik is seen dancing to the ‘60s evergreen track Aaja Aaja Main Hoon Pyar Tera dressed as the older version of his memorable character Rohit from the film ‘Koi Mil Gaya’.
This innovative dance video also showcases the actor’s humorous side. Sporting a hearty paunch with a purple shirt and a grey golfer’s cap, Hrithik is barely recognizable in the first few seconds of the video. The versatile actor seems to be enjoying himself while bringing his character of Rohit to life.
Sources close to Hrithik revealed how the actor instead of sitting idle in between free days at shoots utilizes his time efficiently in creating experiences within whatever environment he’s in. This dance video was a spontaneous one that the actor decided to do in his vanity van during the shoot of Krrish 3.
The video is a reminder of Hrithik’s acting caliber and a sharp contrast to his usual smooth dancing techniques. The actor brings a smile on the viewers’ face with his amusing and quirky dance moves. Hopefully, the Greek god of Bollywood has some more surprises in store for his fans.

Sunny Leone: I Still Sometimes Feel Like An Outsider

Having Topped this year’s Google list of most searched personality in India taking a notch above Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and even leaving the Khans behind, it is quiet evident that the Indo-Canadian actress, Sunny Leone, has received a wide acceptance in India. At a recent promotional event of her film One Night Stand, the actress expressed that though she is pretty comfortable in India now, there is something that makes her feel like an outsider.
“I think it’s a silly idea that people living here are curious about who I am and so don’t always want to approach. But, again, I guess that will be my fault as I don’t go out much, so I personally feel like an outsider. I think slowly I will get in touch with different people that I have been working this year, which is a lot and make more friends,” said Sunny.

Alia Bhatt Selects UDTA PUNJAB Over ROCK ON 2

After giving back-to-back hits in 2014, Alia Bhatt is surely in demand. The actress was offered two plump projects like ‘Udta Punjab’ and ‘Rock On 2’, but she opted to star in ‘UP’.

When Alia was asked why she selected ‘UP’ over ‘Rock On 2’, shedid not comment on ‘RO2’. Instead, she said, "Shall we just stick to ‘UdtaPunjab’? I said a big YES to that!"

However, a source says that she opted for ‘UP’ as in the film she will be the female lead and ‘Rock On 2’ is a movie with an ensemble cast.

The source said, "‘Rock On 2’ is an ensemble cast and the girl's part is that of the band member who replaces Luke Kenny whose character died in ‘Rock On’. If you see her roles so far, Alia has done only solo-heroine films. This is not to say she won't work in films with an ensemble cast. But if she's offered something as challenging as ‘Udta Punjab’ which tests her abilities further and where she's the female lead opposite Shahid, then why not this?"

Arbaaz Khan To Play A Deaf Don In Abbas Mastan’s Next

Actor Arbaaz Khan, who will be seen in Abbas Mastan’s next directorial venture says he will be playing a deaf Don in the film.
Arbaaz Khan says, “Yes, I am doing Abbas Mastan’s film after 20 long years. I debuted in Bollywood with them and I am excited to work with them all over again. I have done a villainous role and got Filmfare award for my performance in Daraar but, this time they have given a different role! A don who is deaf, which is a very interesting character and different form what I have done in the past.”

Arbaaz Khan was launched by Abbas Mastan in the industry with the film ‘Daraar’ which was released in 1996. The actor who was cast opposite Juhi Chawla in the film had played a negative character in it.
He added further, “To get respect is important no matter in any field. I have worked for 20 years I have not met with the success what all other actors and my brother has met with. But, I am happy and as a producer and director, I have got respect on this field so I don’t feel bad.”

Rahul Bhat: Ugly Means Very Beautiful To Me

Rahul Bhat, who was last seen in Nayee Padosan, is back after over a decade of hiatus with Anurag Kashyap’s Ugly. In conversation with Koimoi, the actor reveals about his distance from silver screen, why Ugly got him back and future projects.
What kept you away from films for so long and why Ugly made for a comeback?
It was a conscious decision. I was not in the mood of doing films, because I thought that I am giving my hundred percent and people working with me are not giving their hundred percent; so I thought unless and until I don’t find a right person who doesn’t give his hundred percent I am not going to do films. And then suddenly Kashyap came and offered me Ugly.
So, would you say that the long wait is finally justified?
Yes, definitely the wait is justified. Well I would like to think so. And it could not have been better with such a great director, great script, film and getting to play a very complicated, interesting role. So in that way I am very satisfied, let’s see how it turns out to be.
How was the experience having directed by Anurag Kashyap?
Very interesting, he is a great director and is very good with his actors. The reason why Anurag’s actors excel in his films is because he gives them that kind of space to rise above the script.
Now that this has come to you after so long what does Ugly mean to you?
Ugly means very beautiful to me.
In the film you are in search of your kid, in life what was it that you have badly searched for?
We all lose something or the other in life, life is all about lost and found. In life sometimes I am looking for myself.
What is that particular element that you have taken from the character that you have portraed in Ugly?
It was just the frustration of not getting the kind of work I could have got, so that frustration is very evident in this character, because I am playing a struggling actor in the film. Although I never struggled in my life. Earlier when I was just 19, I got Heena which ran for five years on Sony, then I got Yeh Mohabbat Hai, Nayee Padosan and it was a conscious decision to stay at home and then when I wanted to come back, Anurag Kashyap came out of the blue and said you do Ugly. So I have not actually struggle struggled, but I have struggled in a very different way. My struggle is very conscious, me not getting work is very much upto me, because i was sitting home and didn’t go to meet any producers or directors.
So, it was like Anurag came to you with the film?
Yes, we just met and he offered me the script.
So you both knew each other from past?
Yes, long time back when I came to struggle in Mumbai,we stayed in the same locality, so we kind of knew each other.
What are the other projects you are doing and as Ugly has been screened across various international platforms, have you got any offfers from international directors?
I am currently shooting for Sudhir Mishra’s ‘Devdas‘ where I am playing Devdas. We still have a 15 days schedule, which will be shot in Delhi from 7th January. And yes, Bill Bennett – an Australian director has offered me a lead role in his film, but I have to look at the script first and if it excites me I will definitely do i

I want to do an authentic love story. I want to do a biopic, action I want to films in every genre. But, having said that erotic genre is something I don’t want to do and that’s my personal choice.”

However, the actress went all bold in ‘Hate Story 2’. The actress has also done an item song in ‘Welcome Back’ but says at the moment she doesn’t want to do item songs
She says, “As far as item songs are concerned I have done a special song in Welcome Back and it’s a family song which is picturized on me. I hope in every wedding season this song will be played. I think after this song I will not do item songs as of know but if its a great film I will.”
Surveen is currently busy promoting her film Ugly. Directed by Anurag Kashyap, Ugly features Rahul Bhat, Ronit Roy, Girish Kulkarni, Siddhanth Kapoor, Tejaswini Kolhapure among others. The film is slated for 26th December release.

Salman Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan’s First Look To Release On 23rd Jan

Salman Khan is currently busy shooting for his upcoming film Bajrangi Bhaijaan. The film, which brings together the Superhit director-actor duo Kabir Khan and Salman also stars Kareena Kapoor in the lead role. Ever since Salman booked the Eid 2015 slot for this film, there has been enough buzz about this project.
We hear, the film’s first look will release with Salman’s brother Arbaaz Khan’s upcoming movie Dolly ki Doli which releases on 23rd January, 2015. Although, since the movie is still in its filming stage, releasing the first look six months prior to its release is a little dicey for the makers and thus, Salman and Kabir have been in talks about this.

PK Might Make The Highest First Week Collections Of All Time

Aamir Khan’s PK seems to be marching totally strong in just five days. The film opened excellently and became the highest non-holiday opening grosser of 2014. Interestingly, the film has so far kept up a good pace over the weekdays. PK has currently collected 136.11 crores in five days at the domestic box office.
PK made commendable business in the week days and it is higher than the likes of Happy New Year and Kick which are the Top Grossers of the year. With a Christmas holiday on Thursday, PK is expected to make a huge business and may be almost equivalent to its Sunday collections.
If PK makes a business in the range of 32-34 crores on Thursday, the film could make the highest first week business of all time as it will reach a total of 190 crores plus. This would be way higher than HNY, Kick, Bang Bang and in fact Aamir may break his own record of Dhoom 3 which had collected 185.50 crores in its first week.

Ayushmann Khurrana: Hawaizaada Will Be An Image Change By Default

Ayushmann Khurrana is all set to star in his first biopic as the dreamy Hawaizaada. After making a smashing debut with Vicky Donor, the actor did fumble a little with Nautanki Saala and Bewakoofiyaan but looks like he is now making an informed choice for his upcoming projects.
From playing a nerdy scientist in Hawaizaada to a UP wala in YRF’s next, Ayushmann Khurrana talks to Koimoi about his choice of films and why he needed a image change.
Was it a concious effort to have an image change?
After Vicky Donor, Vibhu Puri offered me this amazing story of an unsung hero. The way he has fictionalised it, the way he has taken the creative liberty and added his own flavour to the story of a guy who made world’s first aircraft is incredible. So I think there was no plan, but, yes, this will be an image change by default because I was playing quintessential North Indian guy till now and this time I am playing a Maharashtrian.

So, what kind of roles you are expecting to come your way after Hawaaizaada?
I think we should talk only about Hawaaizaada now, but I have done a film called Dum Lagaake Haisha, and I am playing a (UP waala) UP guy, so even that’s also way apart from the characters that I have played till now.
Directed by Vibhu Puri, the film is slated to release on 30th January, 2015.

PK: 1st Tuesday Box Office Collections

After having an excellent first Monday, PK has managed to remain steady over Tuesday too. The film showed a minimal drop of 20% and collected 18.50 crores over its fifth day. It now stands with a total collection of 136.11 crores approx at the domestic box office.
The Aamir Khan film has been receiving a strong positive word of mouth which is obviously working in favour of the film. Considering this is the Christmas week and with Thursday being a holiday, the film will certainly fetch good collections over the holiday.
Multiplexes are performing extremely well for this film and since there has been no good movie since last two weeks. the release of PK has been one of the most anticipated ones. Looking at the current pace of the film, Pk could certainly have its first week collections in the range of 180 crores.
